5. Los Angeles Chargers

Fresh off the bye week, the Los Angeles Chargers were hoping to remain one of the hottest teams in the NFL by coming through with another win in Week 9, although the Seattle Seahawks weren’t going to make it easy for them. Once the second quarter hit, the Chargers officially took over this game against the Seahawks, and even though it was closer at the end then expected, at least they won for the sixth time in seven games.

Sitting in second place at the moment with a 6-2 record, Los Angeles has to love the position they find themselves in when compared to last year since the team has a history of getting off to poor starts. Not only does Philip Rivers continue to play at a high level as one of the most competitive quarterbacks in the league, but the Chargers were thrilled to see Melvin Gordon healthy enough to return for Sunday’s game since he made a difference in the win over the Seahawks.

Gordon has been making a name for himself as one of the league’s most dangerous running backs, and seeing him rush for 133 yards with a score on just 16 carries shows the kind of damage he can do on offense. With more outings like these, Los Angeles is going to be quite the difficult team to defeat during the final two months of the regular season, and should be able to eventually lock up one of the playoff spots in the AFC, even if it ends up being a Wild Card spot.
