Final Thoughts

Whether they’re looking to make a big splash and land an all-pro in Peterson or simply add depth to a scarce secondary, a move of some sort is a must for me. If they choose to make a trade for a player at a different position, then Amerson seems like a no-brainer to me. He’ll provide a safety net while Jones recovers from his injury and could produce better results than Mills once Jones returns.

To be quite Blount about it (see what I did there), the Birds need a big name player to come in and make a difference somewhere on this team. With the secondary as one of, if not the biggest, issues that are holding them back from any chance of repeating as champions, it seems like an appropriate place to spend.

It feels like I swung a paddle at a wasp’s nest and stood in place to face their wrath every time I think about drafting Peterson in 2011. But I close with another cliché, it’s never too late.

Peterson is still an elite corner that has a lot of talent left to give. The Cardinals are through with this season and they have a rising young quarterback, a stud running back and are ready to rebuild.

The Birds have picks that could be valuable to Arizona and can make the deal happen. So I say go for it. Bring us the lockdown corner we so desperately need.

We’ve covered the backfield and we’ve covered the secondary. Those are the two major weak points in this Eagles squad. In the final installment of this series, I tie up the loose ends with all the other possible additions that could solidify the Birds chances of making a run to the playoffs.
