Vontae Davis (Recently Retired, formerly Buffalo Bills)

You may think I’m crazy with this one and at first, it really was a joke, but then I started to picture Vontae Davis in this Eagles secondary. Yes, he’s 30 years old, but Davis is a former first-round pick and a two-time pro bowler.

He had a stellar career between Miami and Indianapolis, and only recently did he fall off the deep end and announce his retirement. At halftime. In the middle of a game.

The thought of lacing up the cleats and getting the snot beaten out of you for a team coached by Sean McDermott is enough to consider retirement. Add the fact that this all takes place in Buffalo and it just might make sense that one would retire in the middle of a game.

Davis could thrive in a locker room that would screw his head back on straight and provide an experienced veteran to help groom some of the younger corners. Though he may not have the pep in his step that was once present, Davis could be a short-term solution to the problem.

Stick him in at corner and move Mills back to safety, then let Maddox move back to his comfort zone at corner to eventually take Davis’ spot. The only thing that frightens me about this move is Davis’s reckless attitude rubbing off on Mills’ already arrogant mentality.
