2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Eagles lose tough battle of NFC Championship rematch
By Dan Parzych
19. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles knew defending their Super Bowl title was going to be a difficult challenge since this team would be playing with targets on their backs for the first time along with recovering from numerous injuries. But after seeing Philadelphia suffer their third loss of the season to Minnesota at home, this team is filled with more questions than answer heading into Week 6.
After an impressive win to kick off the new season over the Atlanta Falcons, the Eagles have now lost three of their last four games, although the good news is the NFC East still appears to be wide open at this point. However, the fact that Philadelphia has scored 23 points or less in each of the first five games shows how much this team is really struggling so far in 2018, and it’s even more frustrating since some of their key players continue to drop like flies in the injury department.
Clearly, this offense is far from the effective unit that was one of the most dangerous in the NFL during their Super Bowl run last season, and it was a shame to see the Eagles miss out on numerous opportunities to take down the Vikings. Even more frustrating, this banged up Philadelphia team has a shorter week with a Thursday matchup against the New York Giants, meaning it’s going to be even more difficult to recover over the next few days.
