2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 5: Eagles miss out on chance to take down Titans
By Dan Parzych
1. Los Angeles Rams
Unlike previous seasons, the Los Angeles Rams entered 2018 as one of the top contenders in the NFC, and rightfully so when looking at all of the talent they have to work with on both sides of the football. After winning each of their first three games by double-digits, the Rams knew Thursday’s meeting with the Minnesota Vikings would most likely be their biggest challenge to date, which made the win that much more enjoyable.
Minnesota certainly gave Los Angeles a scare at times when considering they managed to put up 31 points, but Wade Phillips’ defense certainly deserves credit for stepping up when needed the most to help the team hold on for the 38-31 win. Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh continue to be absolute nightmares for opponents on a weekly basis, but when it comes to the biggest star from this contest, nothing compares to what Jared Goff was able to accomplish.
On a career night, Goff was nearly flawless when torching the Vikings’ defense after throwing for 465 yards and five touchdowns, four of which happened to come in the first half. All of a sudden, those football experts who previously criticized Goff for being a “system quarterback” realize the former No. 1 pick may actually be the real deal after all, and could even work his way into the MVP conversation when the time comes.
