2018 NFL Power Rankings: Eagles no longer on top after Week 2 of preseason
By Dan Parzych
30. Cleveland Browns
Similar to the Jets, the Cleveland Browns hope to have struck gold at quarterback from this year’s draft after using the top overall pick on Baker Mayfield following a stellar career at Oklahoma. To this day, some continue to try making the case that the Browns made a mistake by going with Mayfield over other quarterbacks, but when looking at his progress so far in preseason, the team seems to have made the right call.

Once again like New York, Cleveland is also facing one of those tough decision about whether to go with their rookie quarterback or a veteran during the 2018 season since Hue Jackson seems convinced on going with Tyrod Taylor instead of Mayfield. Over time, the Browns will eventually go with Mayfield under center since they obviously wouldn’t use a top pick on a player just to have them ride the bench, but it will be interesting to see if Jackson ends up changing his mind.
Two preseason games isn’t enough to determine what Mayfield would be able to accomplish during the regular season when it matters the most, but the rookie has been making the right progress over the last few weeks. Depending on how the final two games go, all eyes will be on whether Mayfield continues to make a push to start as a rookie.
