Philadelphia Eagles: 5 current players with best chance of reaching Hall of Fame
By Dan Parzych
4. Zach Ertz
Similar to the situation with Wentz, Zach Ertz is in one of those positions in which he still has a long way to go when it comes to being one of the NFL’s greatest tight ends to ever play the game. And just like Wentz, the Eagles are thrilled to see him moving in the right direction when looking at the progress he’s been making over the last couple of seasons as an effective pass-catching tight end, especially last year.

When Wentz suffered a season-ending injury, Ertz was one of numerous players that elevated his game to a new level to help make life easier for Foles under center. Not only did Ertz finish the 2017 season with a career high of eight touchdown catches, but as Eagles fans remember well, it was his go-ahead touchdown against the New England Patriots that will go down as one of the greatest receptions in franchise history.
Best part is, Ertz seems like the kind of player that is only going to continue getting better with experience, and should be in for his best season to date in 2018, no matter which quarterback ends up being under center. Plus, with Dallas Goedert now part of the mix on offense, Ertz could also benefit from the presence of his new rookie teammate when it comes to drawing attention away from opponents.
