2. Battle for No. 1 running back role

Give Pederson credit last season for taking a page out of the playbook of the New England Patriots when it comes to riding the hot hand at running back since it played a key role in the team winning the Super Bowl. Signing LeGarrette Blount in the offseason to provide veteran experience in the backfield was an easy decision at the time, but seeing him share carries with Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement ended up working wonders.

Blount may no longer be in the picture, but all eyes will be on Ajayi and Clement heading into training camp to see which player emerges as the favorite to land the starting spot at running back. At the moment, Ajayi may seem like the early favorite, but when looking at the work Clement has been putting in this offseason along with his impact during the team’s Super Bowl run, seeing him win the job shouldn’t be ruled out.

Then again, when looking at Pederson’s ways from last season, the most important factor is Ajayi and Clement will both be heavily involved on the offense since this is going to put the Eagles in the best position to succeed in 2018. Not to mention, it will be exciting to watch Darren Sproles return from injury as well, and see what kind of contributions the speedy veteran can make.
