Philadelphia Eagles: Jason Avant is not the next American Ninja Warrior
After a promising start, ex-Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jason Avant is not headed to the second round of the American Ninja Warrior Competition.
Do you remember ex-Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Jason Avant?
Though he never quite ascended to the ranks of the NFL stars, Avant played eight of his 10 NFL seasons in the City of Brotherly Love and quietly endeared himself to the fanbase by never being afraid to do the dirty work.
A sure-handed possession slot receiver, Avant accrued 3,646 yards and 12 touchdowns as one of Donovan McNabb‘s favorite targets, before eventually reuniting with Andy Reid for one in Kansas City in 2015.

But what’s he up to now?
Well, outside of running Launch, a trampoline park in his home state of New Jersey, Avant apparently wants to be an American Ninja Warrior.
but unfortunately for Avant, that dream did not last very long.
After reportedly spending time training with a former winner of the competition, Najee Richardson, Avant took to the course in Philadelphia with fans, Eagles alum Quintin Mikell, Jalen Mills, and a selection of the Eagles’ cheerleading squad cheering him on, and initially, it looked like a pretty solid run. Using the tools he’d amassed over his decade-long career in the NFL, Avant made quick work of the first three obstacles, before ultimately succumbing to a poorly timed jump that resulted in number 81 landing face-first in a swimming pool.
And just like that, Avant’s dreams of becoming an American Ninja were effectively dashed.
Surprisingly enough though, Avant isn’t the first Eagle to appear on reality TV. Besides Terrell Owens, practically turned his appearances on the small screen into a second career, there have been plenty of ex-Eagles who have appeared on network television over the past few years, like Merrill Reese and Mike Quick calling a game on The Goldbergs, magic man Jon Dorenbos making it all the way to the finals on America’s Got Talent, and a pair of former birds fighting for the heart of the most recent Bachelorette.
Spoiler alert, it appears as though neither will win her heart.

Now granted, Avant could try it again next year, now understanding exactly what it takes to complete the course firsthand, but at least for now, the ex-Philadelphia Eagle won’t be adding any hardware to his display case.
