It looks like the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing Allen Hurns twice next season after the wideout agreed to sign with the Dallas Cowboys.

While the Philadelphia Eagles continue to remain busy in free agency after the recent signing of Mike Wallace, the Super Bowl champions are well aware of what’s going on across the rest of the NFC East as well, especially with the Dallas Cowboys. For the most part, the Cowboys have received some unfair criticism for staying quiet over the first week of free agency, but when seeing how the team was able to convince Allen Hurns on board, it looks like the wait was worth it.

After gaining interest from numerous teams following his release from the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hurns agreed to a two-year deal with Dallas, giving them another weapon for Dak Prescott to work with alongside Dez Bryant, assuming the wideout sticks around. Over the last few months, one of the biggest debates surrounding the Cowboys has been whether Bryant would be worth keeping around if he refuses to take a pay cut since the money he’s scheduled to earn in 2018 clearly doesn’t match the numbers he’s been producing.

With that being said, if Bryant were to end up sticking around to play alongside Hurns, there’s no question Dallas’ offense would become even more dangerous since the team already has one of the league’s top running backs in Ezekiel Elliott. But if the Cowboys or their fans believe this move alone puts the team ahead of the Eagles in the NFC East, they need to take a deep breath before jumping too far ahead.

Along with only appearing in 21 games over the last two seasons, Hurns has only caught 74 passes for 961 yards with five touchdowns in that span. And while there are plenty of reasons to be excited over the signing when looking at the potential Hurns showed early on in his career, the wideout still has a long way to go to prove he’s worth every penny of his new two-year deal.

Keep in mind there’s a reason why Philadelphia was able to earn their first Super Bowl title in franchise history despite all of the key injuries ranging from Carson Wentz to Jason Peters, as the adjustments Doug Pederson made were truly remarkable. Plus, if the Eagles were able to keep some of the NFL’s most high-powered offenses in check for the most part during their recent Super Bowl run, why shouldn’t they feel confident about being able to do the same with the Cowboys now that Hurns is part of the picture?
