player. 42. . Safety. San Francisco 49ers. Eric Reid. 5

One of the most expensive players on this list, Eric Reid could be an unexpected splash signing that could give the Eagles another Jenkins-type player without breaking the bank. With the likes of Tyrann Mathieu simply too expensive for the Eagles, the Birds could focus on a young play-maker that has made plays while playing multiple positions in college and the NFL.

Reid bust on to the scene in his rookie year, making the Pro Bowl during a 12-4 season with the San Francisco 49ers. A consistent starter in the secondary, Reid has dealt with a few injuries but still suited up for 88 percent of the Niners games in his five seasons with the team. The Eagles may have to move around some pieces to make Reid fit in regards to the salary cap, but he could be well worth it.

How he fits with the Philadelphia Eagles

What’s most exciting about Eric Reid is that he can play multiple positions, and play them really well. Like what was mentioned about Terence Newman playing safety, nickel corner and on the outside, well Reid can play both safety positions, line up against tight ends and is even big enough to play some linebacker. Whether it be as a third safety, slot corner or dime linebacker, Reid could give the Eagles defense another versatile playmaker who could play allover Jim Schwartz‘s scheme. Though he woln’t come cheap, adding Reid to the Eagles secondary could keep the team competitive in 2018 and beyond.
