Wentz Weekly: Carson adds three touchdown passes in rout of the Bears
By Jake Starr
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off of a 31-3 victory over the Chicago Bears as quarterback Carson Wentz turned in yet another stellar performance.
The Philadelphia Eagles have won yet another game, their ninth in a row. This Eagles team has not lost a game since all the way back on September 17th, when they dropped one in Kansas City. A huge proponent of the nine-game winning streak has been the play of quarterback Carson Wentz.

Wentz turned in another MVP caliber performance in Sunday’s 31-3 domination of the Chicago Bears. He finished the day 23-of-36 for 227-yards and added three more touchdown passes. For the season, Wentz is now up to 28 touchdown passes, which leads the NFL.
Carson’s favorite target of the day was his tight end Zach Ertz, who turned in his best game of the season. Ertz caught 10-of-12 targets for 103-yards and a touchdown, he is the first Eagle to eclipse the century mark in receiving yards this season.
After punting on their first drive, the Eagles got the ball back and went to work. Wentz went four-for-six on the drive and finished with a 17-yard pass to an open Ertz over the middle for a touchdown. This was just the beginning of the clinic that Wentz would put on.

After a LeGarrette Blount fumble, the Eagles scored on their final three drives of the first half, going touchdown, field goal, then another touchdown at the end of the half.
The first drive after the Blount fumble saw the Eagles march down the field on a nine play and 56-yard drive that concluded with Nelson Agholor making a terrific play. On first and ten from the Chicago 15-yard-line, Wentz swung out a pass in the flat to Agholor who showed some shifty moves and flipped into the end zone for Wentz’s second touchdown pass of the day.
Late in the half, Wentz had another highlight when he spun out of a defender on a third-and-eight and picked up a huge first down.
Then, as the half was coming to an end, with five seconds left, Wentz dropped back and floated a perfectly thrown ball in the middle of the end zone that Alshon Jeffery went up and grabbed for Wentz’s third touchdown pass of the game. On that play, Wentz did a great job of putting the ball over the linebackers and right into the hands of Jeffery.

After that play, the bowling celebration was fantastic, just as all of the Eagles celebrations have been this season.
In the second half, Wentz and the Eagles offense took their foot off of the gas pedal a bit as they only put up one score in the second half. Wentz was pulled midway through the fourth quarter for Nick Foles as the Eagles had this game put away up 31-3.
Wentz now has 28 touchdown passes with only five interceptions, and joins elite company in doing that. He has served as a huge factor in orchestrating the Eagles nine-game win streak and their 10-1 record.
The Eagles magic number to clinch the NFC East is now down to one, and any of a Dallas loss or an Eagles win will clinch the division and guarantee the Eagles a home playoff game. But, Wentz and the Eagles have their sights set much higher.
