Eagles shouldn’t worry too much about Mitch Trubisky in Week 12
By Dan Parzych
With the way rookie Mitch Trubisky has looked at times this year for the Chicago Bears, the Philadelphia Eagles shouldn’t have too much trouble in Week 12 on defense.
At 9-1, the Philadelphia Eagles continue to be one of the hottest teams in the NFL entering Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, and when looking at how these two teams compare on paper, there’s a good chance that streak will continue for Doug Pederson‘s squad in Week 12. All due respect to the Bears, but this seems like one of those games that could easily be well over by the time halftime rolls around, especially if Mitch Trubisky continues to struggle the way he has running the offense.

Despite all of the excitement surrounding the signing of Mike Glennon in the offseason after moving on from Jay Cutler, Chicago made the decision to trade up during April’s NFL Draft to select the former North Carolina quarterback at No. 2, making it clear they believed he was capable of becoming a franchise quarterback. And while Trubisky still has plenty of time to prove the Bears were right to trade up, the rookie certainly hasn’t made the smoothest transition when it comes to adjusting to the NFL.
Unfortunately, success from previous rookie quarterbacks ranging from Carson Wentz to Dak Prescott has set the bar high for Trubisky during his first season under center. But between the lack of weapons to work with in the passing game to Chicago needing another year or two to develop some of their younger players, Trubisky has struggled for the most during his six starts to date as a rookie.

What’s even more frustrating is Trubisky has yet to record a single game this year with multiple touchdown passes, as he only has four to his name heading into Sunday’s contest against Philadelphia. And when looking at some of the opposing quarterbacks the Eagles’ defense has been able to keep in check throughout the 2017 season, a struggling rookie quarterback like Trubisky should be no problem for the unit. Not to mention, Trubisky has only crossed the 200-yard passing mark once in those six games, meaning this could end up being one of those games in which Philadelphia’s defense has a field day to help the team be the first ones in the NFL to win 10 games.
