Thanks to another strong performance, Joel Embiid was able to help the Philadelphia 76ers earn the win against the Utah Jazz on Monday.

When Joel Embiid was listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Utah Jazz due to a sore knee, there were some Philadelphia 76ers fans that were beginning to hit the panic button thanks to his history of injuries. But after watching Embiid continue to make a major impact for the Sixers when facing the Jazz, all of those doubts quickly went away for the former Kansas standout once the game officially got underway.

More from Section 215

During Monday’s 107-86 victory over Utah, Embiid recorded his fourth double-double in six games after recording 15 points to go along with 11 rebounds in 27 minutes of action, including a hilarious flop that resulted in Donovan Mitchell earning a technical foul. And even though this marked the first time in four games Embiid didn’t cross the 30-minute mark, clearly that wasn’t necessary when seeing how in control of the game Philadelphia was for the most part.

Ever since the 2017-18 season started, there’s been some sort of cloud over Embiid when it comes to his ability to play a significant amount of minutes, and rightfully so when considering he was only healthy enough to play in 31 games in his career. After seeing the heavy dose of minutes Embiid has received over the last two weeks, the Sixers have to be thrilled over the production they’ve been able to get from their superstar, as it’s played a big part in helping Brett Brown’s team become a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference. And if this dominant style of play continues on Embiid’s end, it’s only going to help Philadelphia compete with some of the best contenders in the NBA.

Hopefully, the knee soreness that Embiid was dealing with heading into Monday’s game doesn’t continue being an issue for the center moving forward since he’s going to be a key piece in Philadelphia’s playoff chances throughout the regular season. At 9-7, the Sixers will next prepare for a Wednesday matchup at home against the Portland Trail Blazers, as Embiid will hopefully continue this recent hot streak he’s put together to prove that he was worth every penny of that five-year, $148 million extension back in October.
