Will revenge factor benefit J.J. Redick, Sixers against Clippers?
By Dan Parzych
For the first time since joining the Philadelphia 76ers, J.J. Redick will face his former team in the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.
Back in the offseason, there were plenty of Philadelphia 76ers fans surprised by the decision of J.J. Redick to join the team after spending the previous four seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. On Monday, the former Duke standout will face his former team for the first time since joining the Sixers, and it’s safe to say fans hope to see the revenge factor come into play for Redick.

Even though there’s no reason for bad blood with the Clippers and Redick, these kind of games always seem to bring out the best in players sometimes since it’s always fun to make a statement against a former team when it comes to what could have been. From Redick’s perspective, the decision to come to Philadelphia when seeing what the organization was willing to pay him (one-year deal for $23 million) almost seemed like a no brainer, but the best part is, the investment seems to be paying off so far for the Sixers.
For a squad loaded with young talent, an experienced veteran player like Redick was just what Philadelphia needed to help provide a little balance for this team. And with Redick averaging the most minutes of his career (32.5) in 10 games along with the fact that he’s scoring 15.6 points per game shows how much of a key addition he truly was in free agency.

Leaving a playoff-caliber team in the Clippers to join a work in progress like the Sixers shows how much faith Redick has in Brett Brown‘s squad, and it’s certainly paying off so far with the team sitting at 6-6 heading into Monday night’s game. If all goes well, Redick will hopefully come out firing against Los Angeles to give Philadelphia a better chance of putting an end to their two-game losing streak on this West Coast trip.
