Despite being off Week 10, Eagles receive help with Falcons defeating Cowboys
By Dan Parzych
Believe it or not, the Philadelphia Eagles were the only team in the NFC East not to lose in Week 10.
By sitting on top of the NFL with an 8-1 record, the Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t have asked to be in a better position heading into their bye week before a key matchup next weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. Prior to Week 10, the Cowboys seemed like the main threat for the Eagles when it comes to the NFC East title, but thanks to some help from the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Doug Pederson‘s team finds themselves in much better shape before what should be an epic divisional showdown.

With Ezekiel Elliott serving the first game of his suspension, Dallas knew they would have a lot to overcome on offense when facing Atlanta on the road. However, the argument can be made that the Cowboys never could have predicted what took place against the Falcons after the defending NFC East champions were demolished by Matt Ryan and company 27-7.
Between Dallas having to settle for Chaz Green instead of Tyron Smith on the offensive line to adjusting to playing without Elliott in the ground game, nothing seemed to be going right for Dallas on offense in this one. And as much as the Cowboys missed Elliott in the backfield, it’s safe to say the offense missed Smith even more after Adrian Clayborn recorded six sacks (that’s right, six!) on Dak Prescott.
Next: Eagles win without playing a game in Week 10
Games like this always turnout to be enjoyable for teams like the Eagles since they didn’t even have to play to earn a win since the loss by the Cowboys puts them at three games behind their rivals in the NFC East standings. So even if Philadelphia ends up falling on the road to Dallas in Week 11, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world since they would still be guaranteed to have a comfortable lead. Then again, this can be a dangerous Dallas team when Prescott and everyone else gets rolling, so let’s just hope for the sake of Philadelphia, they manage to earn the hard-fought win on the road to increase that division lead even more.
