With Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension back in place at least for now, it looks like the Philadelphia Eagles may not have to face the superstar running back in Week 11.

Even though the Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for their Thursday night showdown against the Carolina Panthers at the moment, the team discovered some interesting news prior to the game in regards to Ezekiel Elliott, and his six-game suspension that appears to be back in place. With the suspension expected to go into effect once the Cowboys return from the bye week, the Eagles all of a sudden may not have to face Elliott when these two NFC East rivals square off for the first of two meetings in Week 11.

Obviously, Elliott’s lawyers will look to refile the suspension, so nothing is set in stone at the moment. But also, it’s tough not to think about what a difference this would make for Philadelphia if the Dallas running back does end up losing the case. Even though this year hasn’t gone according to plan at times, nobody needs to explain just how dangerous of a running back Elliott can be when on top of his game, as there’s a reason why he led the league in rushing yards as a rookie last season.

Only time will tell when it comes to whether this decision will stick, but for the sake of the Cowboys, it would almost benefit the team for Elliott to just serve the suspension to get it over with in case they find themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot in a few months. The Eagles may be sitting on top of the division at the moment with a comfortable lead, but everybody knows a lot could change over the next few weeks.

At least for now, Philadelphia fans can enjoy the possibility of earning an extra advantage in Week 11 if Elliott’s suspension does in fact get underway. Because without Elliott in the lineup, it gives the Eagles one less dangerous weapon to worry about on the Cowboys’ offense.
