Sixers had their red uniforms leaked, and the general reaction has been positive.

New uniforms just warm my heart. The Sixers had their red drop shadow rebrand earlier this summer, and now, courtesy of CrossingBroad.com, the red ones made their long awaited debut.

Yes, they did feature a drop shadow. And yes, they are drastically different from the red alternate favorites of the past couple of seasons. But they somehow look better. Blue lining and striping on the side have replaced the white, and the signature block lettering for “Sixers” have taken a more cursive font.

The blue drop shadow softly places it onto the red jersey.

The jersey kind of has a Christmas-type feel to it, and I believe the picture fails to give the jersey a justified view of the new look. The shorts take on the same changes, and they also bring the one criticism I have with the jersey. The alternate 76ers logo on the left leg of the shorts.

It’s a logo that’s on all Sixers shorts, but it feels like a bland addition.

In all, this is a very good addition to one of the NBA’s cleanest jersey collections. It’s odd for so much color to fit so perfectly together, as attempts by other organizations have felt miserably with in the past.

The rumors are that the Sixers could have one more jersey unveiling, but it’s uncertain at this point. Now, this could prove to be false, as the leak for the red uniforms were sparked by a tweet of the jersey designs on NBA 2k18.

With no other murmur of a jersey design elsewhere, this could be the set Philadelphia decides to roll with going into the 2017-18 season. There comes into question the art of “doing too much”.

It’s understandable that the Sixers would make changes with Nike becoming the newest distributor of NBA jerseys, but is such a drastic change of a beloved jersey too soon? The alternate reds worn the past couple years were near the top of the league in terms of look and cleanliness.

Don’t get me wrong, the newest jerseys are looking a lot better than the old, but was/is there a possibility for the team to use the old red alternates and the new red alternates as separate jerseys? In that case, is it really a good marketing strategy to sell similar looking products?

Before I wrap up, I have to continue my crusade for black Sixers jerseys. It seems to be the only one missing in the Sixers historical color wheel.
