The 2017 NFL Season is among us, so what can we expect from the Philadelphia Eagles?

Those that bleed green, know that the Philadelphia Eagles 2016 season didn’t end as hot as it started. Starting off 3-0, but finishing last in the division was more than likely not the expectation of how the season was going to turn out.

But what are the overall expectations for the Philadelphia Eagles this 2017 NFL season? Will the Eagles come out on top in the NFC East and win the division title? Or will the Eagles have another losing season and finish dead last once again?

Well, neither of the two will probably occur.  As fans, we are hopeful, optimistic, and maybe even a little bit unrealistic when we discuss our team and the road to greatness.

More from Philadelphia Eagles

So instead, let’s lay out some of the positives: Quarterback Carson Wentz is coming into to his second year with a first year of challenges under his belt, and offensive Tackle Lane Johnson is back on the line.

Also, the Eagles front office did make some moves during the offseason. Those moves included adding some depth to the wide receiver core, with the addition of veterans Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith in the wide receiver position. So, all that talk of dropped passes may be an issue of the past.

During the 2017 draft, decisions were made in order to solidify the defense. Picking up defensive end Derek Barnett from Tennessee and adding two cornerback picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds should do the trick.

The main area of concern is still going to be the offense and the Eagles non-existent running game.  For instance, as soon as the offense took the field, they were once again leaving the field, unable to get a much needed first down.

And now we have, former Patriots running back, LeGarrette Blount. The addition of Blount should certainly help the Eagles in the redzone and on the goal line. A powerful running back is just what the Eagles needed.

So, overall adjustments have been made to improve the Eagles for the better, but these changes don’t necessarily mean division championship. It shows improvement, and a commitment to turn the team around since the devastation of the Chip Kelly effect took place. The season looks promising for the Eagles.
