Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich met with the media today to address Organized Team Activities and the upcoming season.

The Philadelphia Eagles offense and OTAs were highlighted today as Frank Riech spent 15 minutes addressing the media. As expected, a lot of the questions were regarding 2nd year quarterback Carson Wentz and the new faces on the Eagles offence.

When asked about how Carson Wentz has looked in OTAs, Reich said, “His pocket movement has been really good in the drills we’ve done and in the team drills we’ve done.” Reich stated Wentz will also get the majority of reps in OTAs, mini camp and training camp.

Reich highlighted that quarterback coach Joe DeFilippo has been watching a lot of tape with Wentz, focusing on climbing the pocket while still looking downfield at his reads.

Regarding the running game, Reich is open to exotic formations and 2 running back sets. When asked about rookie running back Donnel Pumphrey, Reich mentioned, “He’s looked good, he was very productive in college, excited about his route running and ball skills.” As the running game was inconsistent last season, Reich highlighted that he was very excited about LeGarette Blount and will have all the backs involved.

Reich exclaimed, “I love the o-line, there is more depth and strength this year, i think it is one on the strong points of the team, i think we have great leadership there, i think Jason Kelce is a great leader up front, he’s the quarterback up there, he’s as smart of a football player you can get, he’s very versatile for the things we want to do upfront and were really good at the tackle position.”

When asked about the receiver group Reich said the Philadelphia Eagles “need more production out of all the wide receivers, wanted them to be play makers, make 3rd down catches, be great in the red-zone and beat press coverage”. Reich also stated he’s a fan of Dorial Green-Beckham. He is encouraged by him, saying he was, “hard to tackle, athletic with good feet.” Regarding rookie wide receivers Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson, Reich said, “Gibson has been fast, Mack has great length and tremendous ball skills, very smart.”

As it is still early in the 2017 NFL season Frank Reich had nothing but positive things to say about the Eagles offence, a group with new faces and plenty of opportunity to improve before the Eagles face the Packers in Green Back on August 10th for there first preseason game.

Philadelphia Eagles roster transaction – The Eagles signed Gabe Wright, a defensive tackle to a 1 year contract today. Wright, 4th round pick of the Detroit Lions out of Auburn in 2015, the 6-2, 284-pound Wright has played in 12 games over the past two seasons with the Lions and the Cleveland Browns. Howie Roseman continues to add depth to an already stacked defensive line. Wright will have to battle to make the 53 man roster.
