According to unconfirmed reports, Sixers head coach Brett Brown will be heading off for pastures new at the end of the season.

For Sixers fans, Brett Brown was a guy who got a lot of (much deserved) criticism at the beginning of the season for his decision making in late game situations.

But even though they could have fired him and been justified in doing it, the Sixers stood by Brown. Why would the organization do that? Because of Brown’s skill at developing young players.

Brown has been handed a deck with the cards stacked against him but he was able to salvage something out of what could have been a lost season. What’s even more impressive is that he didn’t allow this young roster to quit and mail it in, even when Joel Embiid was lost for the season.

But it seems like Brown sees the writing on the wall in Sixers land that when the team starts winning he’ll be ousted so he would rather leave on his own terms.

More from Section 215

At the season, Brown will be stepping down to take a Sam Hinkie-like sabbatical which will likely raise stock in his coaching services. He’ll be spending more time doing the things that he loves such as hanging out with family, running youth coaching clinics, and fishing peacefully.

For his sanity, Brown is deciding that it is better to leave the Sixers on his terms instead of waiting around to see what happens next year. The Sixers will miss him as he is a worthwhile asset to have around but it makes sense why he would want to leave Philadelphia with his dignity intact.

By now I’m sure that most of you have realized that this is a joke because Brett Brown has been amazing for the Sixers lately. As of now, there is no news that anyone not named Brett Brown will be leading the team forward for the 2017/18 season and that’s just how it should be.

He has lead the heard of young players and it wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever for him not to get a chance next season at developing a rotation with the full-strength team
