The Philadelphia Eagles have officially hit the midway point of the season and they sit at 4-4 and are dead last in the NFC East.

Don’t worry, all hope hasn’t been lost for the Philadelphia Eagles. Each of their losses has been by one possession and while it’s frustrating, it shows how close the Eagles are to being a force in the NFC. For a team that most projected to win four games during the entire season, to already have four wins in the bag is an accomplishment on its own.

The Eagles are in the thick of the playoff hunt  where they are one game behind the Detroit Lions for the second wild-card spot in the NFC. That seemed like an unattainable goal to start the season but with a few good performances, it is well within reach. The issue is those performances need to begin now, with a pivotal meeting with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The Falcons are leading the NFC South at 6-3 but they’re also a flawed team. Can the Eagles exploit their flawed defense? Let’s see what the staff thinks.

George Konoledon 3 points: Philadelphia Eagles 28 Atlanta Falcons 27 – The Eagles let Carson Wentz loose and throw deep more than any other game before. The run game should suck the secondary in and the weak WR Corps is going to show up. Birds outscore one of the league’s top offenses.

More from Philadelphia Eagles

Frankie Sorrentino 1 point: Philadelphia Eagles 24 Atlanta Falcons 31 – The biggest issue with this Eagles team is finishing. Last week the defense did their part towards the end of the game. the forced two three and outs and two turnovers in the final 17 or so minutes of play. yet the offense could not find the end zone. luckily for the

Yet the offense could not find the end zone. Luckily for the Eagles, they play an Atlanta team that has allowed 26 or more points in all but one game. The offense needs to show up this week, or it’s going to be a long afternoon watching Matt Ryan and Julio Jones connect.

Larry Henry 2 points: Philadelphia Eagles 20 Atlanta Falcons 27 – When its all said and done, Julio is too good for the Eagles secondary. He has 145 rec yards & two TDs. Wentz throws for 200 with a TD and an INT. TD pass goes to Matthews who has 95 rec yards on the day. Eagles sack Matt Ryan twice but overall the QB throws for 315 against the Birds.

Paul Catrino 4 points: Philadelphia Eagles 31 Atlanta Falcons 34 – A real shootout between two NFC squads. Wentz rebounds from a shaky performance but Matt Ryan will ultimately be the star of the show and pick apart the downfield coverage of the Eagles.

Anthony Mazziotti 2 points: Philadelphia Eagles 38 Atlanta Falcons 24 – I’m praying for the eagles to bounce back and win this week but Julio Jones and our broken secondary. It all depends on which eagles show up – if the Eagles that showed up against the steelers show up they’ll torch the Falcons. If the birds show up that allowed Eli to throw for 4 TDs it’ll be a long afternoon.

Jim Wicker 4 points: Philadelphia Eagles 27 Atlanta Falcons 24 – Wentz will find success against a very underachieving Falcons secondary. Expect the Eagles to provide additional help on Julio Jones and I believe the Eagles prevent him from having a field day.

Next: Eagles vs. Falcons Semi-Coherent Preview

To me, the Falcons are an overrated team and if the Eagles can pressure Matt Ryan, this could turn into quite the matchup. The Falcons defense can’t stop anyone so I’m expecting an Eagles victory in a 34-28 win. This game may give me a heart attack but there will be points galore on both ends.
