AWAY vs Chicago Fire, 8:30 p.m. September 3rd

Four straight wins and the Union have regained first place in the Eastern Conference and for only the second time in the franchise’s seven-year history, the Philadelphia Union have clinched a playoff spot!

Riding a four-game winning streak, the Union get a full week’s rest before heading to Chicago. This will also be the third and final matchup between the Union and the Chicago Fire. The Union lost the first one early in the season, in a snowy match in Chicago, 1-0. When the two team’s faced off at Talen Energy, the Union came away with a 4-3 win, the most goals they scored this season.

More from Section 215

Chicago enters the game as the worst team in MLS. Last year the Union and Chicago were the two worst teams in the East and in MLS. With the addition of some key players this year and new Sporting Director, Earnie Stewart, the Union have turned their franchise around and now look like one of the top teams in the East.

Unlike the Union, Chicago is still in the basement. Fire Supporters are extremely unhappy with Ownership. Another disappointing season for Fire fans, who want change and fast.

This game will feature Philadelphia’s prized transfer window acquisition, Alejandro Bedoya. But, Bedoya almost didn’t make it to Philly. Chicago had first dibs, on the rights to United States’ National Team players, coming to play in MLS, the Philadelphia Union were second. The Union had to make a trade with Chicago to land the number 1 spot, sending the Fire: Allocation Spot (number 2), Discovery Rights to a player, General Allocation Money, and Targeted Allocation Money.

Game Expectation’s

This game shouldn’t be a tough one for Philadelphia to win, however, they only have 3 road wins on the season. With that being said, the Union are in top form and Chicago will continue the embark on a terrible season. The Philadelphia Union earn their fourth road win, in dominating fashion 3-0.
Current Record: 13-8-7, 46 points.
