  • Tebow’s presence on the roster made him the early favorite for this job to begin with. It seems like oversimplifying things, but if Kelly was content with Barkley, he wouldn’t have signed Tebow.
  • I still think Barkley is the better quarterback, but Tebow might be the better football player. Neither are very good NFL quarterbacks.
  • In an ideal world, Kelly would have been able to find a suitor for Barkley, whether he played well or not. I think that Kelly will end up releasing Barkley, who will get a fresh start elsewhere.
  • Anyone sane understands that if Tim Tebow has to play quarterback for the Eagles this season, they are in big trouble. Perhaps he will have a few fourth downs and two-point conversions where he can play some sort of role on the team. Or maybe, in an un-Tebow like way, he’ll have a quiet, forgettable tenure in Philadelphia.
  • If you haven’t gathered by now, I think Tebow makes the roster as the third-string quarterback. That should make for an interesting weekend of discussion, before Eagles’ fans re-group after the holiday and look forward to the actual team playing in Atlanta on week one.
