For the better part of his tenure leading up to last year’s draft, I was under the impression that Chip Kelly would draft a quarterback every year of his career as an NFL coach. I was surprised last offseason when he did not do it. Despite currently having 5 (up for debate) quarterbacks on the roster, the position is in serious need of talent.

Should the Eagles not end up with Marcus Mariota, I envision them trying to select a player they can develop over the course of Sam Bradford’s career in Philadelphia, however long that is. Brandon Bridge is, in every sense of the word, a project. That being said, the potential yield on investing in Bridge might be enough for Kelly to take a flyer on him.

Bridge has high-end arm talent. His accuracy is what has prevented him from being mentioned as a potential 2nd day selection. He’ s 6’4″, 229 pounds with room to grow and projects as a dual-threat option. Whatever team lands Bridge will most likely put in a great deal of work to try and refine the quarterback’s motion to increase his accuracy at the NFL level. Could Bridge eventually be a starting quarterback in the NFL? Not sure. I do think that, in the 7th round of the draft, there’s no player with more upside at the position and think the Eagles could be the perfect team to see if they can make something of him at the NFL level.
