Are The Eagles Better Or Worse? – Philly Voice

Now that free agency has settled down, Jimmy Kempski of Philly Voice evaluated each position on the team to determine whether or not the Eagles have gotten better or worse.

Kempski determined that the Birds have improved in four areas, while getting worse in five others.

The Eagles’ most notable improvements have come on the defensive side of the ball, where Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso are expected to enhance the team’s defensive backfield.

The team has gotten worse in key areas on the offensive side of the ball with quarterback and wide receiver taking significant hits. Meanwhile, some positions like offensive line and safety have yet to be addressed at all.

The Eagles still have the draft to go through, but there are still a lot of holes on this team that need to be filled.

How Much Salary Cap Room Do The Eagles Have Left? – The 700 Level

The Eagles entered free agency with over $50 million available to them in cap space, and less than one week later all that remains is just over $3 million.

That’s not a lot of breathing room for the team to make any additional moves, and it is very fair to question whether or not some additional moves could be coming to help free up some additional relief.

The two elephants in the room are the contracts of Sam Bradford and DeMeco Ryans.

Bradford carries a hit of $13 million, and while releasing him is not an option, the team could very well rework and extend his deal. Ryans has a number of $7 million, and it isn’t clear what his role on the team will be moving forward. With newly acquired Kiko Alonso and Mychal Kendricks still on the roster, Ryans would easily be the most expensive reserve in the league.

While the Eagles may simply elect to not make any more moves, at some point I think one of those two contracts will need to be addressed.

A Look Into The Sixers’ Future – Philly.com

The NBA regular season is winding down.

With only a few weeks remaining, it’s time to take stock of what the 76ers have to work with as they continue their long-term vision.

Nerlens Noel’s growth has been the most encouraging news of the season. Noel has established himself as an excellent defender, and is beginning to grow into a double-double machine. When paired with Joel Embiid, and whomever the team is able to add through the draft, Nerlens will almost certainly be one of the club’s building blocks moving forward.

Robert Covington has secured a hold on one of the team’s starting forward positions. He’s supplied the team with quality three-point shooting, and was one of the few Sixers that was unavailable at the deadline.

Thomas Robinson was claimed off of waivers from Portland, and has been able to clean the glass efficiently ever since his arrival in Philadelphia. He’s a free agent after the season ends, but he might be worth retaining.

Jimmy Johnson Gives Advice To Chip Kelly – Bleeding Green Nation

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson apparently is a trusted confidant of Eagles’ head coach Chip Kelly.

Johnson spoke to Peter King and informed him that he and Chip speak regularly, with Jimmy offering Kelly advice as the third-year head coach tries to make the right decisions to put the Eagles back on the map.

Among the advice that Johnson has given Kelly is the idea that he can’t be afraid to make moves and get rid of popular players. Johnson himself made a lot of controversial moves during his days as a head coach, giving him an understanding of what Kelly might currently be going through.

Kelly has certainly not been shy about making unpopular moves. The head coach has been given final say over  all personnel decisions, and he’s completely reshaped the team’s offense by getting rid of Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy, and Jeremy Maclin.
