Carson Wentz stepped up to the podium Monday to address the media regarding his offseason, the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles season and participating in OTAs.

As Carson Wentz gets ready for his second season as an NFL quarterback there are many questions regarding his comfort level in the offense. Will Carson take the next step and continue to improve or should there for a sophomore slump.

A big topic of the offseason was Carson Wentz mechanics as the season progressed and not surprisingly the first question asked was his movement in the pocket, Wentz replied, “pocket movement is huge, it’s crucial, knowing how to navigate it and letting it be a feel thing, until the day I’m done playing the game it will be something I’m always trying to get better at.”

Howie Roseman brought in a number of new receivers this offseason, when Wentz was asked about how the new faces will come together, Wentz said “it’s a process, things are starting to click, theirs a big comradery with the offense defense and special teams, makes it fun to practice and hangout in the locker room.” Wentz will undoubtedly have more weapons for disposal this season, when asked about the rookies Shelton Gibson and Mack Hollins, Wentz explained they had “a little bit of work together, they were running routes on air, both look good, both can run, excited to continue building the relationship.”

Two veteran wide receivers were brought in this offseason, Alshon Jeffrey, and Torrey Smith. When asked about the Eagles biggest free agent acquisition, Alshon Jeffrey, Wentz thought he’s shown flashes, and is good on 50/50 balls. On the field Monday, Wentz connected with Smith multiple times, including a 40-yard deep ball vs second-year corner Jalen Mills.

"“Torrey obviously brings a speed threat like that. He’s got a track record for doing that, and so I’m definitely excited,” said Wentz after practice. “It’s something within our offense to just kind of figure out where we integrate that and how we go about it. There were definitely times last year where maybe I could’ve take the shot and I didn’t; there were times when I took the shot when I shouldn’t have. So it’s just trying to get a feel for when it’s appropriate to do that, but yes, Torrey brings an element there that is exciting.”"

Per pro-football-reference.com, Among active receivers, Smith is 3rd for NFL Yards per reception with 17 yards per catch.

More from Philadelphia Eagles

Wentz was asked about a familiar face to Eagles fans, Nick Foles. Foles was brought in to help mentor the young quarterback, when asked about Foles, Wentz stated “I’m impressed with the season he had, the game he had 7 touchdowns, I’ve heard he’s a great guy, i’m looking forward to working with him on the field and off the field, he’s someone I can use as a sounding board.”

This is a huge off-season for franchise quarterback Carson Wentz, his first full off-season as the guy, most of the questions were surrounded around how he is improving from his first season to his second and the new weapons he has around him. Carson seems excited about the 2017 season and already carries himself as the face of the Eagles. Something to get excited about as he is just scratching the surface for what Eagles and the fans are hoping he becomes.
