After a standout 2024 season as a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Philadelphia Eagles selected defensive tackle Ty Robinson with the No. 111 overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft. While the hard work and determination that led Robinson to this point were worth celebrating at the time, it's hard to imagine that his rookie season has gone the way he dreamed.

With just one tackle to his name in six appearances during the 2024 campaign, Robinson is biding his time behind fellow nose tackle Jordan Davis on the depth chart. However, with Jalen Carter likely to miss Monday's game, Robinson could be thrust into action for the first real time this season.

Should that wind up being the case, the Eagles, as noted by Davis during an interview with Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, have all the faith in the world in the rookie to get the job done thanks to the way he's performed on the practice field.

Ty Robinson has Proven in Practice He's Ready for Week 14 Opportunity

“Practice reps,” Jordan Davis said, via Zangaro, when asked why he is confident in Robinson's abilities. “Going against the ones on offense. Just the reps he’s getting against Landon (Dickerson) and against Jordan Mailata and against Cam (Jurgens), all those kind of compound and add up.

“When he gets his opportunity to go against a former Eagles player, Mekhi Becton, or somebody that’s on the Chargers’ line, we have full confidence in him that he can go out there and execute. It’s more about the mindset that he has preparing out there and understanding that he is meant to be here. He is here for a reason.”

Despite not being quoted in this particular piece from Zangaro, it is hard to imagine that Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio feels any differently about his rookie pass rusher. A coach is typically interested in what a draft pick brings to the table before they even arrive at the team facility. Veterans, on the other hand, can be tougher to convince. This is why the comments from Davis should not be dismissed as something that isn't worth touching on.

At the end of the day, Robinson's performance will be graded by what he accomplishes on the field against one of the better offensive fronts in the league. Should the rookie have a strong showing, it could be more difficult to keep him off the field during the stretch run.
