One of the big takeaways from the Philadelphia Eagles’ dominating 38-20 win over the New York Giants on Sunday was the performance of the rushing attack. The Eagles racked up 276 yards on the ground, as Saquon Barkley led the charge with 150 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
While Barkley’s performance was impressive and much-needed, the Eagles were also excited to see young running back Tank Bigsby emerge and put his name in the conversation to be his backup going forward.
The 23-year-old running back, who has been mostly used on kick returns, had a breakout game against the Giants, tallying 104 yards on nine carries. Bigsby’s best run of the game happened in the fourth quarter on a 2nd and 26, where he picked up 29 yards.
Bigsby went from being on thin ice due to special teams blunders to being the most talked-about player among Eagles fans on social media. After the game, Bigsby spoke and expressed gratitude for this chance against New York.

"Just doing what I have to do to help my team win. Just thankful for the opportunity because I’ve always been ready when my name is called," the young running back said via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP.
The young running back was also asked what his process is when he isn’t going to get a ton of reps, and provided a great response, highlighting the team’s culture.
“Just being around these people," Bigsby continued. "Just knowing however you can be, the best player you can be for this team whenever your number is called. That’s when you got to do it.”
If you’re an Eagles fan or head coach Nick Sirianni, you love to hear this from Bigsby after such a big performance. After seeing how things started on special teams, the young running back could’ve easily thrown in the towel.
However, to his credit, when the Eagles called his number frequently in Sunday’s game, Bigsby rose to the occasion and has likely cemented himself as the team’s RB2 going forward. Before the season began, many fans thought it was going to be AJ Dillon and Will Shipley sharing the RB2 duties.
Fast forward several weeks later, and that has now changed heading into the bye, as Bigsby is not only saying the right things but is also doing the right things.
