The start of NFL free agency is this week, and a lot of eyes are — unsurprisingly — on the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are looking to refortify the roster after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 just over a month ago, and general manager Howie Roseman will have about $22.6 million to help with his aspirations, according to OverTheCap.

Although that amount seems like a decent chunk of change, it likely won't be enough for the Eagles to retain all their free agents. With names like Josh Sweat, Mekhi Becton, and Kenneth Gainwell still without new contracts, GM Roseman could opt to trade away a player or two to create more cap space.

If that's the case, one NFL analyst is already predicting which Philadelphia veteran could be shown the door.

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert Named as Potential Offseason Trade Candidate

On Friday, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton named seven players who could be surprise trade candidates this offseason, including Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.

"The Eagles could place Dallas Goedert on the trade block,' Moton wrote. He's going into the final year of his contract without any guaranteed money. Because of a quality incoming tight end class, the Eagles may try to trade Goedert and replace him with a rookie early in the draft."

Goedert, 30, has spent his entire NFL career with the Eagles after being drafted 49th overall in 2018. While it's hard to imagine the offense without his presence, a potential post-June 1 trade should be on the table, considering that it could net Philadelphia approximately $6.7 million in cap savings, per Spotrac.

Goedert has been a reliable pass-catcher throughout his seven-year run, turning 349 receptions into 4,085 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns in 93 regular-season games. He's also posted a 52-562-4 stat line in 12 regular season appearances, finally reaching the top of the mountain with last month's Super Bowl victory.

Nonetheless, Goedert hasn't played a full season since he was a rookie, which cannot be ignored. He missed seven games last season due to a knee injury, and now that he's in his 30s, the Eagles could consider replacing him with a younger, healthier option.

Michigan's Colston Loveland and Penn State's Tyler Warren are two of the promising TE prospects Philadelphia could potentially land in April. Either name — or one of the other high-upside rookies — could solve the team's tight end situation for years to come.

Trades are a two-way street, though, meaning the Eagles must find a partner who still believes in Goedert. Fortunately, the former South Dakota State product has proven to still have juice in the tank when healthy. He was on pace for 71 catches, 843 yards, and nine TDs if he stayed healthy for all 17 games last season.

Goedert has been a big part of the Eagles' attack for nearly a decade, however, a trade must happen if it means keeping the team within the championship conversation. Speaking of which, Philadelphia heads will head into NFL free agency as DraftKings Sportsbook's +650 odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl 60.
