The Philadelphia Eagles knew that replacing Milton Williams would be something the franchise would have to do this season after the veteran defensive lineman elected to sign with the New England Patriots as a free agent.
What Howie Roseman and company could not have expected, though, is that one of the team's Day 3 picks from the 2025 NFL Draft could be ready sooner rather than later to slide into the spot Williams left behind.
That appears to be exactly what the Eagles have on their hands with fourth-round pick Ty Williams out of the University of Nebraska. The former Cornhusker has been a standout player thus far in OTAs, and that has left an impression on Philadelphia stars Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.
If Robinson is going to take this spot left by Williams, he will have to earn it, as 2023 seventh-round pick Moro Ojomo is going to do all that he can to be the one sitting atop the depth chart throughout the 2025 campaign. Mainly a depth piece during his first two seasons in the league, Ojomo is out to do all that he can to earn more playing time now that Williams has moved on to New England.
OTAs are an important portion of the offseason, as this is when new faces join the old guard as a unit for the first time. They can also help serve as a springboard for a rookie or lesser-known free agent to make themselves a fan favorite due to their performances in these team activities.
This competition between Ojomo and Robinson will certainly be one to watch as each player badly wants to be the one depended upon to be a starter. With the rest of the offseason schedule still ahead of us, Eagles fans would be wise to keep a close eye on this particular position battle as we move closer to the kickoff of the 2025 campaign.
