The Philadelphia Eagles have a huge NFC contest in Week 11 as they host the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football. This is a big contest that will have playoff seeding implications down the line, but one of the biggest storylines around the Eagles has been the offense.
Just last week in the win over the Green Bay Packers, they scored 10 points, which isn't good enough. They know that, but it doesn't stop the frustrations from coming. The Athletic's Dianna Russini released an article on Saturday and discussed what she's been hearing about the Eagles.
In that piece, she revealed that inside the Eagles building, multiple players aren't happy with how Jalen Hurts has played this season.
"After doing some digging and asking people inside the Eagles building, it was explained that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts’ approach this season, particularly against zone coverage. They believe he’s become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles instead of trusting what’s open downfield," Russini wrote.
Jalen Hurts Is Getting Some Blame for Eagles Offensive Struggles
Following the win over the Packers, A.J. Brown didn't hide from reporters that he wants more from the offense.
"You can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and you expect to win later in the year."A.J. Brown
And while Brown's displeasures have been a major topic of discussion in 2025, the Eagles' passing attack has been lackluster this season. Entering Week 11, Philadelphia ranked 25th in the NFL in passing offense (191.7) and 30th in pass attempts (241).
While that has led to some positives, like Hurts throwing just one interception, the entire unit as a whole wants more. Russini added that the entire unit wants more communication, trust, and an edge from Hurts.
Although the Eagles are currently 7-2, they want more from an offense that features Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, and Dallas Goedert. And they aren't wrong. As the season progresses and the matchups only get tougher, they are going to need to have their offense ready to roll.
Hurts needs to take some more shots downfield and give his playmakers the chance to make a play. In the NFL, it's too hard and difficult to have wide-open windows for passing lanes. There are going to be times when Hurts needs to let the ball rip into a tight window and trust his guys to make a play.
Russini highlighted that receivers get disengaged when they prepare all week for the game and the ball doesn't even get thrown their way. This is something that needs to change going forward, and players in that huddle will look at No. 1 to fix this problem.
