Saquon Barkley Makes Surprise Reveal About Ref From Eagles-Rams Playoff Game
By Cem Yolbulan
The Philadelphia Eagles are back in the NFC championship game. After a thrilling win over the Rams on Sunday, the Eagles are one win away from making the Super Bowl and potentially setting up a re-match with the Chiefs.
As he has been all regular season, Saquon Barkley was once again the best offensive player for the Eagles in the divisional-round matchup. For the postseason, the star running back has 324 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging a whopping 6.4 yards per carry.
In the second playoff run of his career, Barkley is obviously having a lot of fun. In fact, he received a warning from the refs during the game for how much fun he was having. In his post-game remarks, Barkley revealed that he got in trouble for his trash talk, according to Eagles insider EJ Smith. The referees reportedly pulled him aside during the game and told him to stop.
Eagles News: Saquon Barkley Got in Trouble for Trash Talk vs. Rams
In a high-stakes playoff atmosphere, harmless trash talk shouldn't be a problem. If anything, it should be encouraged as extra fuel and motivation for the players.
Throughout the week, Rams players provided that extra fuel for the Eagles. Standout rookie defender Jared Verse said before the game that he hated Eagles fans. Barkley had responded to Verse, calling it "not the smartest thing to say when you are coming to Philadelphia." The Eagles star likely continued his smack talk throughout the game as he delivered one big run after another.
Barkley will look to continue his historic regular season plus postseason performance. A division rival coming into town for a spot in the Super Bowl will give Barkley the perfect opportunity for his now-notorious trash-talking.
