Your Philadelphia Eagles are officially Super Bowl champions after thoroughly demolishing the Kansas City Chiefs in a stunning 40-22 game that wasn't as close as that final score indicates. The Eagles dominated in every facet of the matchup, leaving no doubt as to who deserved to win.
The referees were a major point of conversation entering the weekend after misguided conspiracy theories suggested the NFL was giving the Chiefs too many favorable calls. There were a few missed calls but overall, this was a fair contest that no one could suggest was influenced by the refs.
That is, unless you ask Kansas City WR DeAndre Hopkins. Speaking to the media after the loss, Hopkins tried to flip the narrative and blame officiating. Unfortunately for the veteran, it only makes him look like he's whining.
"There were a lot of touchy calls... y'all gonna report that?" 👀

Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins Complains About Referees After Super Bowl Domination
"I saw a lot of things in the media about the refs," Hopkins said. "There was a lot of touchy calls. Are y'all gonna report that? Are y'all gonna talk about the refs now?"
While Hopkins didn't directly say that officials caused the Chiefs to lose, he certainly implied that they played a role. When you go up 24-0 by halftime though, there's no question about who the better team was on that day. The Eagles were actually called for eight penalties to the Chiefs' seven as well, proving there wasn't any foul play from the referees.
From the very beginning of the game, it was obvious Philadelphia was better prepared. They dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and likely could've won by 30+ if they wanted to. Even on a day in which Saquon Barkley wasn't special, notching just 57 yards on 25 carries, the Eagles won going away. That's not the referees' fault.
Hopkins just suffered one of the worst defeats of his career. It's understandable to be upset but with these comments, he's doing the exact thing he's making fun of his previous opponents for. Kansas City wasn't ready to play, plain and simple. No amount of officiating can fix the Chiefs' own self-inflicted woes.
Regardless, the Eagles can rejoice and celebrate. It's been a long season, but the best team won on Sunday night and now the city rejoices.
