Ravens Suspend Player Who Refused to Play Against Eagles in Week 13
The Philadelphia Eagles are playing elite football, as they are winners of eight straight games. They look like serious Super Bowl contenders after coming off a big-time 24-19 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
That was a critical matchup, as both teams are expected to compete when the playoffs roll around. While the Eagles are looking ahead to their matchup on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, a report came out that a Ravens player refused to enter last week's game against the Eagles.
NFL News: Diontae Johnson Has Been Suspended by Baltimore Ravens
According to Mike Garafolo, the Ravens are suspending WR Diontae Johnson for one game without pay for conduct detrimental to the team. Johnson will miss the Week 15 contest against the New York Giants.
In a statement released by Ravens EVP and GM Eric DeCosta, he said, "Diontae's suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles."
That is certainly an interesting development. It was shocking that Johnson wasn't on the field, as the Ravens traded a fifth-round pick in exchange for the Toledo product back in October. Johnson logged zero snaps but now we are finding out why.
The Ravens trotted out Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and Tylan Wallace in the Week 13 battle instead. It was head-scratching that Wallace replaced an injured Bateman. Philadelphia held Baltimore to 206 passing yards in the matchup.
This move has been a complete disaster for the Ravens but worked in the Eagles' favor in Week 13.
