The Philadelphia Eagles suffered an epic collapse late in the fourth quarter in Monday Night Football to lose to the Falcons, dropping to 1-1 for the season. There is certainly plenty of blame to go around when you fail to execute on both ends of the football. Playcalling was questionable, Saquon Barkley had a massive drop, and the Eagles' defense failed to put any pressure on Kirk Cousins on the game-winning drive.

However, it was the wrong Eagles who took the blame for the loss. Taking to social media after the game, veteran cornerback Darius Slay apologized to fans and said the loss was on him.

Eagles News: Darius Slay Takes the Blame for Falcons Loss

Your team leaders taking responsibility is always a good sign. And yes, Darius Slay was not good on Monday, completely losing Drake London on the touchdown pass. He allowed five receptions on five targets and missed three tackles. He finished the game with a 49.1 grade on PFF.

However, the loss is certainly not "on him". He was nowhere near the Eagles most to blame for that collapse. Bryce Huff was a complete disaster and the Eagles pass rush failed to make Cousins uncomfortable at any point in the game. C.J. Gardner-Johnson missed a crucial tackle on Darnell Mooney's touchdown play.

The biggest failure, however, came on the offensive side. The Eagles could have ended the game if they got first down on a third-and-3 situation. Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore ran a pass play for Saquon Barkley but the veteran rusher had a costly drop. Then, instead of going for it on fourth-and-3, Sirianni took the field goal.

One can argue about whether those were play-calling or execution mistakes. What we can't argue, however, is that this was a collective loss and Darius Slay alone can not be responsible.
