Week 6 Opening Odds Is Bad News for Eagles Fans
The Philadelphia Eagles had a bye in Week 5, giving them time to refocus after dropping two of the past three games.
The Eagles have been inconsistent through the first month of the season but they'll have a struggling team coming to town in Week 6. Philadelphia will host the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 13.
On paper, this appears to be a great matchup for Philadelphia but the opening odds spell bad news for the Birds.
NFL News: Underdogs Have Dominated in the NFL This Season
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are 8.5-point favorites against the Browns. At first glance, you would think this is great news, but that hasn't been the case this season.
After five weeks, NFL underdogs of 5.5 or more points are now 19-4-1 against the spread with 13 outright wins.
On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers as 7.5-point underdogs. The New York Giants also topped the Seattle Seahawks as 6.5-point underdogs. In addition, both teams were on the road.
Next Sunday, all the pressure will be on the Eagles. They have a better roster and QB and will match up against a team that has dropped three straight games.
The Browns are last in the NFL in total offense (239.4), 30th in passing offense (142.8), and scoring offense (15.8). Cleveland has yet to score 20-plus points in a game and will have their work cut out in Week 6.
But this trend in 2024 reveals the Eagles shouldn't come into this game relaxed because if they do, they'll come out with a loss.
