WATCH: Eagles Get First Look at Quinyon Mitchell at Rookie Camp
By Jovan Alford
The Philadelphia Eagles added a new class of rookies to their roster last week, which included first-round pick Quinyon Mitchell. Heading into the 2024 NFL Draft, Mitchell was viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in the class.
There were numerous reports about Philly trying to move up for the former Toledo cornerback, but luckily for them, they stayed at No. 22 overall and drafted Mitchell. Mitchell could be starting opposite Darius Slay this season depending on what the Eagles do with James Bradberry this offseason.
That said, Philly’s coaches got an up-close look at Mitchell and the rest of the 2024 draft class on Friday for the first day of rookie minicamp. Mitchell and the rest of the defensive backs took part in drills with new passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach Christian Parker.
As you can see Mitchell looks smooth in the drill and is wearing No. 30, which some fans didn’t like when the team officially announced the new numbers for their rookie class.
However, Mitchell’s jersey number won’t matter if he balls out like he did at Toledo and becomes a top-tier cornerback in the NFL. In his last year at Toledo, Mitchell produced 41 total tackles, 18 pass deflections, and an interception.
