Update on Suspended Eagles Player Emerges
By Cem Yolbulan
As the free agency craze is almost over, teams can take better stock of what they have in terms of their depth chart and rotation. The Philadelphia Eagles, who were one of the busiest teams of free agency, are certainly not done with their transactions yet as they could potentially make additional signings and trades ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
One of the primary areas of concern for the Eagles this offseason was their secondary rotation. With aging stars in decline, the cornerback rotation was especially bad, being one of the most important factors in Philadelphia's epic collapse in the second half of the season.
Despite this, the Birds have failed to make any significant moves to address this issue. This opens the door for a potential trade, but Zach Berman of PHLY reports that the Eagles could get an unexpected addition to their rotation.
According to Berman, there is hope that Isaiah Rodgers, who is currently suspended by the NFL, could be reinstated ahead of next season.
Eagles Hope For Isaiah Rodgers Reinstatement
Rodgers was released by the Indianapolis Colts last offseason after three successful years with the team due to violation of the league's gambling policy violations. Philadelphia subsequently signed him and placed the 25-year-old on the reserve/suspended list.
Since then, Rodgers said that there were bets placed by his own account but they were made for others and not himself. The NFL investigation didn't find any evidence of game manipulation related to these wagers.
So, after a year on the sidelines, the former sixth-round pick might make his return to the NFL and provide an additional depth option to the Eagles.
