The Philadelphia Eagles were crushed by the injury bug in Week 3 as they saw several players on offense get banged up in the three-point victory over the New Orleans Saints. One of those players was wide receiver/punt returner Britain Covey.
Eagles announcer Merrill Reese said on KYW NewsRadio Monday morning that Covey said to him that he has a broken bone in his shoulder and expects to be out for at least six weeks (h/t Rob Tornoe of the Philadelphia Inquirer). Covey had one reception for 11 yards against the Saints.

Eagles News: Britain Covey Placed on Injured Reserve
In addition to that tidbit from Reese, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday that Covey’s injury isn’t season-ending and could be back sometime in November.
#Eagles signed TE Jack Stoll to the active roster, signed WR John Ross to the practice squad, and placed WR Britain Covey on Injured Reserve.

(Covey’s shoulder injury isn’t season ending, from what I understand, and that he could be back sometime in November.)
The Eagles placed Covey on injured reserve and reportedly signed tight end Jack Stoll to the active roster to take his spot. Also, Philadelphia signed veteran wide receiver John Ross to the practice, who spent training camp with the Birds.
With Covey being out for an extended period, the Eagles could give his return duties to rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean. DeJean took over for Covey in Sunday’s game. As for the wide receiver room, the Eagles will depend on Jahan Dotson, Parris Campbell, and rookie Johnny Wilson to step up.
The Eagles are already without A.J. Brown, and with DeVonta Smith in the league’s concussion protocol, Philly will need Dotson, Campbell, and Wilson to help out Hurts on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
