The Philadelphia Eagles are about to play in a historic NFL regular season game to begin the 2024 campaign. The Eagles and the Packers will face off in Sao Paulo, Brazil in the first-ever NFL game in South America.

This naturally created plenty of buzz among NFL fans but having a game abroad certainly brings about unforeseen complications. One of these will be about the uniforms both teams will be wearing.

The game will be played at Corinthians Arena, home to one of the most successful soccer teams in Brazil, Corinthians. As tensions around rivalries are famously high in Brazil, the stadium has one bizarre rule that could impact the Eagles game: you can not wear green.

Eagles Might Not Be Able to Wear Green in Brazil

Yes, you heard that right. Corinthians has an informal ban on wearing green, as there are signs forbidding it for players and fans alike. The reason for this is that their archrivals, Palmeiras wear the color green.

This could be a problem considering Philadelphia and Green Bay have green as the primary color on their home jerseys.

Perhaps neither team will wear their home uniforms. The Eagles have alternate black uniforms they could wear while the Packers could wear their white uniforms but those jerseys have a strip of green in the helmet.

Plus, there will almost certainly be fans wearing green who want to come to the stadium and watch the historic occasion.

How much the club will crack down and implement this rule remains to be seen. A former soccer player was fined by the club a few years ago for wearing green cleats. That seems excessive but whether the Packers and the Eagles respect their hosts and make changes to their uniforms accordingly will be a fascinating little storyline to watch for the game.

The Eagles will look to start the season on the right foot with a win in Brazil over the Packers. They are currently tied for the best odds (+120) to win the NFC East next season.
