Coaching drama has followed the Philadelphia Eagles all offseason, and the team's unfortunately dealing with it again after minicamp.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts raised some eyebrows recently when he struggled to answer a few questions on head coach Nick Sirianni, prompting questions about the relationship between the two, especially on the heels of Sirianni firing former offensive coordinator (and close friend of Hurts) Brian Johnson.

Now, it seems Hurts' non-comments have rubbed some within the organization the wrong way.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer said on his podcast "unCovering the Birds" that "several key figures" with the Eagles were "disappointed" by how Hurts handled his end-of-minicamp press conference. Additionally, McLane noted that a certain unnamed player who "had issues" with Philly's star QB is no longer on the team.

The drama over Hurts' remarks, as well as the reporting around his reputation throughout the organization, just adds to the discourse around his leadership. Much has been made about the QB's unique approach to leadership, which isn't prototypical and has led to questions about his ability to lead.

With the departures of beloved veterans like Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, there's an opportunity for Hurts to step up within the locker room. But that also means added pressure to emerge as a legit leader, since it's expected from one of the squad's best players (at the most important position, no less).

Hurts can silence at least some of the critics by bouncing back on the field in 2024. It's easier to dissect his weaknesses when he's coming off of a season that saw him step back in many facets from the MVP-worthy campaign he put up in 2023.

However, with the loss of several franchise cornerstones, it's time for Hurts to take the next step forward as a leader away from the gridiron as well.
