Sean Desai Somehow Lands Another Defensive Job After Poor Eagles Season

Sean Desai had a rough 2023 season as the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator. Desai saw his defense get humiliated in consecutive weeks by the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. He also had his defensive playcalling duties taken away before the Eagles’ Week 15 contest against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Eagles ultimately parted ways with Desai at the end of the season. However, despite all the turmoil with Philadelphia this season, one team still believed in Desai and wanted him a part of their coaching staff.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Los Angeles Rams are expected to hire Desai in a senior defensive role.

After a tumultuous 2023 season with the Eagles, Desai will join an LA defensive staff that saw defensive coordinator Raheem Morris become the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. However, the Rams hired Chris Shula as their next defensive coordinator. But they are working on filling out the rest of the defensive staff.

As for Desai, this is a solid opportunity for him to sit back in an assistant-type position for a season and try his hand again at a defensive coordinator role next offseason. 

It’s a shame things didn’t work out with the Eagles, as the defense was humming in the early parts of the regular season. But as things got progressively worse, you had the feeling that Desai would be one of the first people let go from the coaching staff.
