Insider Reveals Roger Goodell's Stance on Banning Tush Push

The Philadelphia Eagles have perfected the act of short-yardage gains in the NFL like we haven't seen since the installment of the forward pass. The play that has been dubbed as the "Tush Push" features the quarterback lining up under center with two backs behind him to the left and right. When the ball is snapped, well, the backs push the tush.

The Eagles are seemingly unstoppable when they run this play, whether it be on a the goal line for a touchdown, or a 3rd/4th down and 1 to keep a drive going. Other teams in the NFL and college football have run this play with success, but not nearly as much success as the Eagles have had. It has revolutionized short yardage plays.

That is, for now.

Report: Roger Goodell wants to permanently ban the Tush Push

According to Athletic reporter Diana Russini (subscription required), Roger Goodell has seen enough of the Tush Push, and wants it gone for good.

This makes sense, coming from Goodell. He's changed rules that have virtually taken away the defense's ability to play defense in some cases. Now he's coming after the offense's successes. We're not going to have much left of the game if we keep going down this path.

The Eagles have perfected this play and the rest of the league has not come up with an answer for it. Instead of learning how to do it themselves or, better yet, trying to stop it, they've now resorted to go crying to the boss to make it illegal. Sad.
