While the 76ers are off to a strong start to the season, one proposed trade makes them look even more dangerous by adding rotational depth.

The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a strong start to the campaign, boasting a 5-1 record through six games. Being tied for the Eastern Conference league is fairly impressive given that this is the same team that traded away star guard James Harden one week ago.

Having said that, experts believe that the 76ers aren't finished making trades just yet. While the team has been linked to star players like Zach LaVine and Donovan Mitchell, one NBA expert has proposed a trade would help improve Philadelphia's depth.

76ers Trade Rumors: Pistons' Alec Burks a Target?

76ers Alec Burks Trade

Bleacher Reporter's Zach Buckley suggests that the 76ers acquire Alec Burks from the Detroit Pistons for Nicolas Batum and Jaden Springer, along with second-round picks in 2024 (via Knicks), 2028, and 2029 (via Clippers).

With Springer and De'Anthony Melton as the 76ers' top shooting guards, the team could use someone like Burks. The 32-year-old wing player has been a solid bench player throughout his career, averaging 10.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 38.6% from three-point range across 680 games.

Even though Burks is in the second half of his career, he's still an effective rotational player. He's averaged at least 11.7 PPG in each of the last five seasons while shooting 40.4% or better from the three-point line each season since 2021 — including a 53.8% success rate this season.

Considering how the Sixers average the seventh-fewest threes made, it's easy to see how Burks could help improve the offense.

The 76ers wouldn't be giving up too much to acquire the 3-and-D specialist. The newly acquired Batum is still solid, but he isn't needed as long as Philadelphia still has Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris Sr., and Robert Covington. His contract also needs to be moved to match Burks' $10 million cap hit.

Speaking of his contract, the ex-Colorado Buffalo has a $10 million team option for the 2023-24 campaign, meaning Philadelphia could have some flexibility once the offseason arrives.

Nevertheless, a fresh start could also work best for Jaden Springer, who's averaging just 1.2 points while shooting 15.4% from the field in five games this season. Even though he could still have some unlocked potential as a former first-round selection, having Burks take over Springer's spot would make the 76ers a better team.

As for the second-round picks, those can be recouped in trades down the line.

Regardless of what you think for the Burks deal, it's hard not to love a deal that gives you $150 for just $5.
