Phillies-Diamondbacks Game 3 Tickets Are Embarrassingly Cheap
By Tyler Maher
With the Philadelphia Phillies leading the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 in the NLCS after a dominant 10-0 victory in Game 2, Diamondbacks fans already appear to be surrendering.
The ticket prices for Game 3 in Phoenix on Thursday afternoon are embarrassingly cheap, suggesting there's not much interest in seeing Arizona lose again.
NLCS Game 3 Ticket Prices
The prices for Game 3 tickets have cratered following the Diamondbacks' Game 2 loss, which apparently crushed their fans' spirits. Tickets that were originally going for over $100 can now be had for less than $20.
Twenty bucks doesn't get you very far in today's world, especially when it comes to sporting events. Depending on the market, $20 sometimes isn't enough for a bleacher seat for a mid-week game during the regular season.
In Arizona, however, it's enough to buy a ticket to the team's first NLCS home game since 2007. There will certainly be more than a few Phillies making last-minute flights to Phoenix this morning to catch the game.
To be fair to D-backs fans, the timing of this game absolutely sucks. Not only is it on a weekday, but it also starts at 2:07 p.m. local time when most people are still at work or in school.
Then again, is that really an excuse? A Philadelphia home game would still sell out even if you played it at three in the morning.
Game 3 is going to have a very different atmosphere than the first two games of the series -- much quieter and less exciting. The crowd energy has been off the charts for every playoff game at Citizens Bank Park (just ask Merrill Kelly), which is a big reason why the Phillies are 6-0 there in the postseason.
Home-field advantage has been a very real thing for Philly so far, but don't expect Arizona to get much of a boost today. No wonder the Phillies are road favorites.
