The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most stacked rosters in the league but need to make some tweaks over the next few months to strengthen the roster. After a shocking end to the 2023 season, the Eagles will certainly be aggressive in improving the team.

Philadelphia had their struggles on the backend, ranking 26th in total defense (356.1) and 31st in pass defense (252.7). They also released Kevin Byard after just one season in Philly. Another veteran safety is now on the market days before free agency is set to begin.

The Denver Broncos have released safety Justin Simmons in a move that saves the team $14.5 million in cap savings.

Eagles Rumors: Simmons Could be A Perfect Fit in Philly

With a need on the backend, Simmons could be the perfect addition to the team. The Boston College product has exceptional instincts to create turnovers while being a secure tackler in the ground game.

Across his eight-year career, Simmons had registered 603 total tackles with 64 pass breakups and 30 interceptions. Additionally, he's snagged at least four interceptions in four of the last five seasons.

Last year, Simmons finished with 70 total stops, three interceptions, and a PFF grade of 67.9.

Eagles' new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was Simmons' head coach in Denver from 2019-2022. Those two have a connection and that is something to monitor.

Philadelphia owns a stout roster and the potential addition of Simmons would give them a better chance of winning the division. According to FanDuel Sportsbooks, the Eagles are +160 underdogs to win the NFC East. If you want to lock in these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
