Nick Sirianni Comments on Coaching Future Amidst Job Security Speculation With Eagles
By Jovan Alford
With the Eagles dropping their fourth game in the last five weeks and potentially being the fifth seed in the NFC playoffs after a 10-1 start, fans wonder if the team could part ways with head coach Nick Sirianni.
Sirianni has led the Eagles to their third-straight playoff appearance, including last year’s run to the Super Bowl, and has a record of 34-16 since taking over for Doug Pederson. However, the Eagles have taken a notable step back on both sides of the ball, which isn’t a great look for the 42-year-old head coach.
Eagles News: Nick Sirianni Address Job Security Rumors
Sirianni went on 94 WIP Tuesday and was asked if he’s lost the team and about his future in Philadelphia.
The third-year head coach said he’s “not concerned” about that when asked about losing the team. As for his job security, Sirianni kept his answer simple and looked ahead to this week’s game against the Giants.
“No, I don’t think about those things,” Sirianni said. “I try to stay where we are right now. How we play good football this week against the Giants, how do we fix some of the things that we got going on right now. That’s where my focus is and that’s where I’ll be obviously the rest of this week.”
For a team that had Super Bowl expectations earlier this season, they’ve fallen short over the last month. However, Sirianni still has time to rally the troops and end the regular season on a high note against the Giants.
But it’s hard to trust this Eagles team to take care of business on Sunday after what we saw from them last week against the Cardinals. It’s understandable why fans might want Sirianni gone, with how this season has played out.
However, it would be shocking to see Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie relieve Sirianni of his services after taking this team to the Super Bowl last season.
Even though the Eagles have been disappointing over the last month, they are still favored to win on Sunday against the Giants.
