MLB Insider Dumps Cold Water on Mike Trout-Phillies Trade Buzz
The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the top rosters in the league and currently own the best record in the MLB at 25-11.
They have stars in Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, Aaron Nola, and Zack Wheeler in the clubhouse as they have a championship-caliber roster.
In years like this, teams look to go for the home run swing and add as much talent as possible. There have been rumors regarding Mike Trout and the Phillies, but an MLB insider shut down that idea.
Phillies Rumors: Los Angeles Angels Unlikely to Move Mike Trout
Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic released an article highlighting Trout's run with the Angels, stating it's unlikely that they are able to move off of him.
Trout, who turns 33 on Aug. 7, is expected to be out 8-12 weeks as he recovers from a meniscus tear in his left knee.
Rosenthal noted that Trout is guaranteed $35.45 million for the next seven seasons, but he's been slammed with the injury bug over the past couple of years.
Between 2021-2023, Trout has missed more games than he's played. Trout has been known as a slow healer and that won't change heading into the second half of his career.
The 11-time All-Star has a no-trade protection clause in his contract and is from Millville, N.J.
Philadelphia is only an hour away from his hometown, explaining why there have been rumors that he could be headed there, but that was more of a dream.
Trout could have leveraged his way there earlier in his career but ultimately re-signed with the Angels. He's turning 33 by the end of the season, and his trade value has dropped tremendously due to his injuries and massive contract.
Philadelphia isn't going to mortgage their future for an injury-prone player whose dealing with injuries for the past four seasons, especially since they have been dominating without Trout.
