Kylie Kelce Sheds New Insight on Jason's Retirement
By Jovan Alford
All-Pro offensive lineman and future Hall of Fame center Jason Kelce officially retired from the NFL on Monday as he held a press conference at the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia in front of friends, family, and the press.
Kelce had a decorated 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles that saw him become a folklore hero in the city and cement himself as one of the greatest players in franchise history.
His wife, Kylie, had a front-row seat to all of it and spoke about her husband’s playing career, the retirement speech, and more in an interview with NBC10 Philadelphia.
During the interview, Kylie said that Jason had been working on his retirement speech for years, which caught the attention of Eagles fans.
“I've heard multiple versions over the last four years. This was a completely different version," she said. “I think every year he sort of started from scratch as to what was sitting on the surface. But when he said that he was contemplating retirement for years, he means for years.”
It’s not shocking to hear that Jason was contemplating retirement for many years, as playing in the NFL for a long time takes a toll on the body. Over the last few years, the discussions about whether Kelce would return for another year started to get louder.
Some Eagles fans thought Kelce would’ve retired last offseason, but he decided to come back for one more year. The 36-year-old offensive lineman would’ve probably wanted his final game to go better than it did. However, Kelce went out on his terms and looks to have a bright future off the field.
